We are accepting newborns and transfer patients under 12 years of age who plan to follow the CDC immunization schedule
Thank you for choosing Litchfield County Pediatrics for your child's care. We strive to provide excellent, family-centered medical care to the children of our community in a compassionate, respectful, and inclusive manner. Our goal is to build trusting relationships with our patients, parents, and caregivers so that, together, we can succeed with your child’s health care goals.
Please review the information below for all new patients, newborns, and transfers.

Immunizations
One of the most important things we do as pediatricians is preventative care. Giving vaccines to prevent disease is part of our core philosophy. If you do not agree with that philosophy, we may not be a good fit for your family and recommend that you seek care with a different practice. We follow the immunization schedule outlined by the CDC and require our patients to receive all vaccines that are mandatory for school entry. Please review our vaccine policy.
Appointments & Office Policies
We make every effort to meet the needs of our patients, offering both routine well visits and sick visit appointments. Appointment requests can be made by phone or via the portal (for non-urgent issues). Appointment times after 5pm during the week and on Saturday mornings are reserved for same-day urgent sick visits. We do not accept walk-in appointments at this time. However, in situations where a patient does walk-in for an appointment, they will be placed in the next available appointment slot.
We request that you give us 24 hours notice for cancellations. We understand that emergencies or schedule conflicts arise, so please just give us a call. Also, call to let us know if you are running late for your appointment. If you arrive for your appointment 15 minutes late, we will need to reschedule it. Completely missed appointments are concerning to us in many ways but mostly because they interfere with our ability to provide good medical care to your child. If you miss three or more appointments within a year, you may be dismissed from the practice.
Outside of office hours, one of our Litchfield County Pediatrics providers is always on call for urgent issues and questions. Call the main office number at 860-489-4144 to reach them. Please hold appointment requests and medication refills for our regular business hours, or submit a request on the portal.
For more information. Please review our policies in the Policies and Forms tab for information on appointment options, payment procedures, and more.
Insurance & Payment Policies
We accept almost all medical insurance including BCBS, BCBS State of CT, Aetna, Cigna, ConnectiCare, Oxford, United, Husky/Medicaid, Tricare and more. If your insurance is not on this list, please call the office and check with our staff. Please remember to review your insurance policies as well as our payment policies prior to your visit with us. It is your responsibility to know the limits and coverage of your health insurance policy, to update your insurance information with us when needed, and to pay any copays or deductibles at the time of service.
Portal, Website, & Social Media
The Patient Portal is a convenient way to send us HIPAA secure messages, appointment requests, medication refill requests and more. You can also review your child's health data, growth, visit history, and immunization records on the portal. Be sure to set up your portal account asap when you get the registration email after making an appointment with our practice.
The Litchfield County Pediatrics website has a variety of resources for you including well child appointment information, dosing charts, and medical links to acute and chronic conditions. Please take advantage of the information on the website by exploring it and visiting as needed.
Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram to get office updates.
Phreesia
We use Phreesia for our registration and check-in process. For every appointment, you will receive a confirmation/registration request and reminders through Phreesia. We also send important clinical surveys through Phreesia to be completed ahead of your child’s appointment with us. The messages are sent directly to your cell phone and/or email. Please complete the process prior to your appointment. When you arrive at the office, simply text back “Here” to the message prompt and we will assign you a room. As a result of this process, your child will not spend any time in our waiting room and will therefore not be exposed to sick children in the office.
↓NEWBORN PATIENTS
Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Having a newborn is an exciting (but exhausting) time in life. We are happy to guide you through the newborn/infant months and excited to watch your child grow and develop after that too.

After Birth
At the hospital, let the staff know that you have chosen Litchfield County Pediatrics as your pediatrician so they can forward us the important information about your baby’s birth. While you are still in the hospital, call the office at 860-489-4144 to set up a newborn appointment within 1-3 days of discharge. If you are breastfeeding, we try to make your first appointment with our lactation consultant Michelle Henry, APRN. If she is not available or if your baby is formula feeding, you will be set up with one of the other providers. Please bring any paperwork given to you by the hospital about your baby to your first visit with us.
↓PATIENTS TRANSFERRING INTO THE PRACTICE
Our goal is to provide the best medical care for your children. To do this successfully, we must be able to review all of your children's medical records from all providers that your children have seen. It is our policy to receive your children's previous medical records before we can assume care of your children and schedule an appointment. Once the records are received, we will review them to determine if they are complete or sufficient for us to begin caring for your children. Unfortunately, we cannot treat or provide any care for your children until that time.
If you have not already done so, please sign our Authorization to Release Medical Records Authorization to Release Medical Records and provide it to us or to your children's previous medical provider. Make sure to provide your name and phone number on the form.
For any additional questions, please call our office. We look forward to meeting you and your family.
